Happy Winter Solstice! Up here, just above the 49th parallel, we have about four hours of full daylight, and the return of the light is a collective celebration, maybe even more than any traditional holiday.
If you’re tired, remember that it doesn’t necessarily mean that anything is wrong. We are mammals, after all, and this time of year, most mammals either hibernate or sleep for significant periods of time.
Nature operates in cycles, and this is a restorative part of the cycle. It’s testament to how at odds our culture is with our true natures that most of us have to be active and super-social at the very time when we most need to rest.
My wish for you is that during this often busy season, you find time to go inward, to rest and recuperate.
That’s all for now. Merry Happy in whatever way you celebrate (or don’t!).
